Two women aged 28 and 33 have both been sentenced to seven years in prison, while their male accomplices, aged 36 and 58, were handed six and a half year jail terms.
The gang of four robbed the men in their homes after spiking their drinks with a potentially lethal substance, the verdict at Malmö district court found.
In May last year, the two women met a man in Värnamo who they had contacted through the internet dating site Badoo. Writing in the man’s native Serbian, the person handling the account managed to set up a meeting with the man.
According to the notes provided to the court by the prosecution, the man was then drugged after the two women spiked his coffee. He woke up six and a half hours later, in the middle of the night, to find the women gone and his flat raided.
“The crime is serious because they put his life in danger by rendering him defenceless,” prosecutor Mårten Alvinsson wrote in the statement.
Medical experts believe the two women used a mixture of sedatives and medicines used to treat psychosis to knock out the Värnamo victim and three more men. Two of the four victims had remained unconscious for more than 24 hours after being administered the concoction.
The two men sentenced in the case acted as drivers for the two women, who went on to drug and rob men in Karlshamn, Eslöv and finally Malmö. The two men were also believed to have entered the victims’ homes to help the two women trawl through the apartments for valuables.
