Fältskog, who made up either the first or the last A in the Abba acronym (also made up of Benny, Björn and Anni-Frid), is releasing her first album in a decade in May.
On Tuesday, she gave a rare media interview with Sveriges Radio (SR) to talk about her forthcoming album, her rusty voice, and the possibility of an Abba reunion.
The singer’s new album was co-written by Jörgen Elofsson, who has penned hits for artists including Britney Spears, and is simply called A.
In the interview, the singer admitted that she was forced to start afresh – going so far as taking singing lessons – but got back in the swing of things quickly.
“It might sound cocky, but I only needed two lessons. Once I learnt how to breathe again I realized I could make it work,” she told SR.
The singer also pointed that despite her 62 years, she feels just the same as when she was a 17-year-old walking into the studio for the first time.
Towards the end of the interview, Fältskog was asked “the obligatory question” by the radio presenter – will Abba ever sing together again?
“I don’t think it will happen, we’re not tempted by it. We all have our own lives now and it was so long ago,” the 62-year-old singer responded.
Abba disbanded 30 years ago, but Fältskog didn’t completely rule out the chance the group might come together once again.
“We’ll take it easy and see what the future holds, you never know what will happen, but I think there’s a very, very small chance that we’ll do something together,” she said.
She also added that she wouldn’t be making any surprise appearances at Eurovision in Malmö, but admitted that she’d be watching.
A museum dedicated to the group will open in Stockholm this spring.
