Opening this week in Germany is Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful. James Franco plays a small-time magician, Oscar Diggs, who is swept away from the dusty plains of Kansas to the magical Land of Oz. He is eager to finally achieve fame and fortune in the faraway land, until he meets three witches (played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, and Michelle Williams) who halt his efforts to become the great wizard everyone has been expecting. Oscar becomes entangled in the problems facing Oz, and begins a journey to help Oz by determining who is good and who is evil.
Surreal landscapes and astounding visual effects by art director and two-time Oscar winner, Robert Stromberg create a new and imaginative interpretation of the legendary Oz that serve as a magical backdrop to this epic adventure.
