21-year-old charged with driving in playground

A 21-year-old man from southern Stockholm has been charged with driving a motorcycle through a busy playground in September, millimetres away from crashing into a young boy.

“Parents are really worried because they are driving really fast, way over capacity, in playgrounds and yards where kids are playing or kicking a ball around,” Mikael Jonsson from the local police station in Fittja, told newspaper Metro.

According to the police, the motorcycles are becoming a real nuisance for parents in the Botkyrka area, south of Stockholm, who are afraid of letting their kids out to play.

So far, however, no one has been hurt but residents have told the police that if they are not able to put a stop to the reckless driving of motorcycles and quad-bikes in the area, they will take the matter into their own hands.

Police have made some arrests, but the perpetrators have generally been young and the vehicles often stolen.

The 21-year-old is under suspicion of driving his motorcycle into a Botkyrka playground in September, narrowly missing a little boy.

“You’ve got to get him. The motorcycle drove straight into us,” the kids told the police, according to the paper.

The man is now being charged with reckless driving, breaking traffic laws and using a vehicle without lawful authority. He denies all allegations, according to Metro.

“No, this is completely mental, I haven’t driven a motorcycle,” he told police in interrogations, according to Metro.
