“He was shot several times but as we far as we know his life is not in danger,” said Christer Nordström of the Uppsala police to local paper Upsala Nya Tidning (UNT).
The robbery took place shortly after midnight when the victim and his wife returned home from their shop.
The perpetrator, who was reportedly alone, demanded the couple give him money. After firing his weapon multiple times, he took off, most likely on a moped.
According to the police, the man didn’t get away with any money or valuables.
Police were unwilling to disclose any details about the nature of the victim’s injuries, but he was taken to the local hospital in an ambulance.
The victim’s wife escaped without any physical injuries but is said to be in shock from the incident. The couple’s dog, which was also shot, was taken to a nearby animal clinic to undergo surgery.
The robber reportedly wore a mask or a hood, shielding his face.
As of 6am on Friday morning, police had not arrested anyone for the deed, which has been classified as aggravated robbery.
