Juholt in cash spat with the Social Democrats

The Social Democrats and former party leader Håkan Juholt are in dispute over unpaid lawyer bills incurred in connection with the apartment rent scandal that preceded his fall from grace, according to a report in the Expressen daily.

When the news broke that Håkan Juholt had claimed full reimbursement of his apartment in Stockholm despite the fact that he shared it with his partner, the then Social Democrat head sought legal advice.

Juholt asked for help from the party to get legal advice on whether he could sue the Aftonbladet and Expressen newspapers over the revelations.

The party declined to fund a lawyer however and he proceeded to find his own counsel.

The party however agreed to pay for the lawyer fees, but later proceeded to deduct the sum from the parachute payments Håkan Juholt received after having been forced to resign as party leader in January 2012, according to Expressen.

“We don’t comment on this type of information when it concerns people who are, or have been elected representatives or employees,” Social Democrat Tommy Ohlström told Expressen.

According to a report in the Aftonbladet daily, Håkan Juholt has denied that he is at odds with the party over the sum, reported to be around 100,000 kronor ($15,200).
