A number of flights to and from Sweden are cancelled, with many of them between Arlanda and Copenhagen, according to Swedavia.
At Arlanda airport in Stockholm, 12 scheduled take-offs and landings have been scrapped and a further eight in Gothenburg were cancelled.
“It is more extensive now, but these are destinations that can be reached with other flight companies,” said Henrik Kelfve, spokesperson of Swedavia to the TT news agency.
“As this is the third wave, we hope that the travellers booked on Lufthansa flights have taken note.”
While the situation may be dire according to affected passengers, Kelfve claims that it could be worse.
“Of course this affects us but if you look at how the situation is in Europe, this is very minor.”
The strike, which began in the middle of Thursday night, is estimated to affect 1,000 flights.
Lufthansa was slightly more optimistic on Friday morning, a spokesman saying:
“On average, there are 1,800 Lufthansa flights during a normal day; around half of these flights will take place.”
SAS is raising its capacity to help stranded Lufthansa passengers.
