Woman evicted over angry note ‘threats’

A disgruntled tenant was evicted this week from her apartment building in Stockholm after neighbours complained that the angry notes she had been posting in the stairwell became too rude and threatening.

Woman evicted over angry note 'threats'

According to the landlord, the 56-year-old woman left ever more demeaning and threatening notes for other residents in the building, wrote Hem & Hyra, newspaper of the Swedish Tenants’ Union (Hyresgästföreningen).

Among the woman’s chief complaints was a recurring irritation towards one particular tenant, who often opened a window in the stairwell, causing a chill in the 56-year-old’s apartment.

The woman, who had a mild form of autism, argued that the open window caused a psychologically disruptive conflict and had led to her developing heart problems.

The building management company had terminated the woman’s lease twice previously following complaints about her angry notes, but revoked the decision in the belief that the woman would improve with additional home care.

However, the woman continued leaving the messages, resulting in a growing number of complaints to the landlord from other residents in the apartment building.

The Svea Court of Appeals has ruled that the woman must move immediately, after a hearing where examples of the notes were shown.
