A tooth found in a burger, which lead to a year-long investigation of a factory and supermarket, has been shown to have belonged to the woman who was eating it.

The tooth was found during a dinner party between two couples. The hosts complained after the tooth was found in the steack haché being eaten by one of their guests, and went to the local press about their ordeal.

But at the beginning of this week, the local police station informed all parties involved that after tests on samples given by the two couples, the crowned tooth belonged to one of them – the woman who found it in her food in the first place.

The couple’s lawyer said his clients deny “vehemently any allegations that they fabricated this situation fraudulently.”

A spokesperson for Carrefour, the supermarket put under examination following the complaint, said it would be “impossible for such a foreign body to be found in this type of product due to the quality control procedures” in place.
