At the same meeing the Finnish town of Lahti was named as host of the 2017 world nordic ski championships.
Despite already hosting the event four times previously (1934, 1948, 1974, 2003), St-Moritz was given the nod ahead of Åre (Sweden), the hosts in 2007.
The Italian resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy) had previously pulled out of the race.
Lahti, which has hosted the nordic ski championships an impressive seven times previously, won the race ahead of the German town of Oberstdorf, Planica in Slovenia and Zakopane in Poland.
The 2016 world championships in sky flying went to Kulm in Austria, while the 2017 freestyle and snowboard world championships will be held in Sierra Nevada, Spain.
