No Swedes Signed Up for Most Expensive Poker Tournament Ever

The tournament is called Big One for One Drop, and the man behind the event is Cirque Du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté. $111 111 of each buy-in will go to Laliberté’s charity organization One Drop, which has the mission to fight poverty by supporting the access to water.

There is a 48-player cap for the event, which will be played July 1-3 at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas, and if all slots are filled the winner will get $15 million – the biggest prize in poker history.

Thirty players including big names such as Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan and Daniel Negreanu have signed up, but no Swedish players have signed up yet.

Sweden’s most famous poker player, 21-year-old Viktor Blom from Ed will be making his debut at the WSOP this summer, but he recently expressed doubts about the WSOP Big One in an interview with the website PocketFives.

“I think it’s too much money for one tournament. Maybe it also takes away the prestige from the other smaller tournaments to have one with such a large buy-in,” Blom told PocketFives.
