“Nobody, including the orchestra’s director, was supposed to be informed about the purpose of this piece of music as Nicolas Sarkozy had not yet launched his campaign,” Elena Chuchkova told AFP in Sofia.
The 50 musicians of the SIF 309 orchestra recorded the three-minute melody, which Chuchkova described as “very good and solemn like an anthem,” on February 12th and percussion was added electronically, she explained.
Chuchkova said the music was commissioned to her orchestra by its French composer Laurent Ferlet, with whom she had worked before.
“We have worked for 20 years with (composers from) the whole of Europe, especially Italy, France, Britain and less with the United States,” Chuchkova said.
SIF 309 had recorded music for Christophe Barratier’s movie drama “The Chorus”, Francois Ozon’s film “8 Women” and Fred Fougea’s “Hanuman”.
“But it is the first time we have done music for an electoral campaign,” Chuchkova said.
