The musician, actress and former model told daily newspaper 20 Minutes that she would be at her husband’s side “when he needs me.”
Bruni-Sarkozy, who has previously supported left wing candidates, left no doubt that she believed her right-wing husband was the right man to be president for the next five years.
“He is very good and has experience and courage,” she said. “When I see what is happening in Greece I’m afraid but I’m less afraid when I know that he is the president.”
As for the added pressure of the daughter Bruni-Sarkozy gave birth to four months ago, she said he wasn’t too troubled by sleepless nights.
“He doesn’t feed her,” she said. “Generally, it’s the women who deal with that.”
Bruni-Sarkozy was careful not to fall into the trap of criticizing her husband.
When asked whether she regretted any of his actions over his five year mandate she answered “I can’t really say but I honestly think he has done everything very well.”
“Generally, I find his ideas are fabulous,” she said, leaving no doubt she will be a loyal supporter throughout the eleven week campaign.
