More snow set to blanket much of Sweden

A new line of snow showers is expected to powder Sweden during Saturday, with the snowfall expected to continue all through the night into Sunday.

More snow set to blanket much of Sweden

An area of low pressure north of Sweden is the culprit behind the large area of snowfall.

At the same time, mild air will be reaching the country, causing temperatures to rise to a balmy couple of degrees below freezing.

“Temperatures are going to lie between a couple of degrees down to about eight below in almost the entire country,” Lovisa Andersson, meteorologist at meteorological institute SMHI, told news agency TT.

Saturday’s snowfall will initially cover only the country’s northern-most regions, but will continue south during the evening and continue during the night.

“It’s going to affect basically the entire country,” said Andersson.

On Sunday, snow will continue to fall over southern Götaland. Snow areas are also expected in Sweden’s mountainous regions.

The rest of the country may have better luck.

“There’s going to be a good chance of sun in places,” said Andersson.
