Altogether, the average German viewer above the age of three watched 225 minutes of TV per day (or 3 hours, 45 minutes) last year – two minutes more than in 2010.
German viewers 14 and up watched average of 239 minutes a day.
Broken down into age groups, the figures show that older Germans watch the most TV, with viewers aged 65 and above watching 306 minutes of TV a day. The biggest year-on-year rise was in the 50 to 64 age group though, who watched 280 minutes in 2011, six more minutes than in 2010.
The least dedicated TV watchers remained 3 to 13-year-olds, who watched only 93 minutes of TV a day – the same as in 2010.
Most TV stations define their main target audience as the wide 20 to 59 age group, who consumed a steady diet of 221 minutes a day – also no change from the year before.
