ACCIDENT

Mum hit by car after pushing kids to safety

A woman was hit by a car at a crosswalk in southern Sweden around lunchtime on Friday, moments after miraculously pushing her two children out of harm's way.

The accident occurred at 11.40am in Södra Sandby outside of Lund in southern Sweden as the women and her two children were crossing the street at a crosswalk.

Suddenly a car approached in high speed, and the woman’s motherly instincts kicked in.

“She managed to save her two children by pushing them,” Helena Ralmark at the Skåne police told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

The cost of her heroism was that she herself was struck by the car and sustained serious injuries, although not life threatening, Ralmark said.

After the accident the woman was taken to the Lund University Hospital, along with her children who reportedly didn’t suffer any physical injuries.

The driver was still on the site when police arrived, and was as of Friday not suspected of any crime.
