According to police, a large quantity of explosives had been stored in the house though at this time there are no official thoughts as to whether it was a question of suicide, arson or a possible micro-scale terrorist cell.

“It’s not something we think so far. But we keep everything open until we know what caused the explosion,” the Kalmar police spokesperson told local paper Östran.

Police expect to ascertain the cause of the explosion that leveled the wooden house outside of Mönsterås on Friday claiming one life, later this week.

“We are waiting for technicians to return with results to see if we can get some clarity on what exactly exploded,” a spokesperson for the Kalmar police told Östran.

The trigger to the massive explosion will be determined later this week once all test results are analyzed and finalized, including DNA tests taken at the scene.

“There is a plethora of explosive materials that could cause such a loud bang,” Kalmar police officer Ulf Einarsson told the TT news agency.

With the help of a special-trained police dog, officials continued to find body parts during the course of the weekend.

At this time, police believe all human carnage belongs solely to the man who lived in the house.

The small wooden house, which was located near Kulehägnen, about two kilometres south of the E22 motorway in the north of Mönsterås, blew up, causing immense destruction at about 2pm on Friday.

Reports say many witnessed the explosion, which catapulted parts of the house both onto and across the busy highway Friday afternoon.

The house was instantly ablaze and several bangs were heard after, reported Östran.

According to the emergency services, a relative said she witnessed a person enter the house before it blew up.

Currently there are no suspects.
