Murder pics posted on porn site: report

Confidential police photographs of a woman who was raped and murdered in Gothenburg last year have been leaked onto a pornographic website, local newspaper GT reports.

The 27-year-old victim, Elin Krantz, was murdered after she stepped off a tram at a stop in the Hisingen neighbourhood. A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with her death.

Police are now examining whether the photos published on the internet came from the preliminary investigation into the woman’s violent death. Investigators are also seeking to discover if somebody from either within or outside their ranks has breached secrecy regulations and committed a criminal offence.

Krantz and her alleged killer were riding the same tram on the night of her murder in September last year.

Krantz was raped and murdered in a wooded area not far from the tram stop, according to information from the investigation.

According to prosecutors, the suspect hit and/or kicked Krantz with such force that she was left with contusions and haemorrhaging on her head, neck, arms, and legs.

The violence was so severe that it also caused nerve damage in Krantz’s brain, resulting in a lack of oxygen.

The 23-year-old is suspected of having raped Krantz by holding her down and forcing her legs apart. He then allegedly dragged her body over uneven ground and then placed it on a large stone block, according to prosecutors.

Included in prosecutors’ long list of injuries to Krantz are “burst membranes around the vaginal opening”.

According to the prosecutors, the 23-year-old showed “extreme ruthlessness”.

The Social Democrats, Green Party and Left Party have managed to oust the right-wing Moderates from power in Gothenburg, despite failing to strike a coalition deal with the Centre Party.

Red-green coalition takes power in Gothenburg

The Social Democrats, Left Party and Green Party will now take over the municipality with Jonas Attenius, group leader for the Social Democrats in the city, becoming the new mayor.

“We three parties are ready to together take responsibility for leading Gothenburg,” Attenius wrote to TT. “I am looking forward immensely to leading Gothenburg in the coming years.”

The three parties will lead a minority government, with 40 out of 81 mandates, meaning it will dependent on mandates from the Centre Party to pass proposals.

The three parties had hoped to bring the Centre Party into the coalition, but talks fell apart on Monday,  October 24th.

“We our going into opposition, but our goal is to be an independent, liberal force, which can negotiate both to the left and to the right,” the party’s group leader in Gothenburg, Emmyly Bönfors told the Göteborgs-Posten newspaper.

The end of talks in Gothenburg leave the Social Democrats leading coalition governments in all three of Sweden’s major cities, with Karin Wanngård appointed Mayor of Stockholm on October 17th.

The Social Democrats had unbroken control in Malmö since 1994, after they regained power from the Moderates, who controlled the city from 1991-1994, and also from 1985-1988.
