“The days of high pressure front ‘Eva’ are numbered,” DWD meteorologist Olaf Pels Leusden said in a statement.
Eva brought sunshine and double-figure temperatures in the south and west of Germany at the start of this week, but by Wednesday the cold of winter had started to take hold once again.

Low pressure front ‘Olaf’ will bring overcast skies and rain to the west and north of the country on Thursday, while the sunshine will linger in the south until Friday.
The whole of Germany will then be left with significantly colder temperatures over this weekend. The northeast can expect snow and frost during the night.
The recent thaw has also affected skiing conditions in the German Alps. Unlike in France and Austria, skiing was reportedly no longer possible on many German pistes.
