Temperatures will remain chilly for early autumn as the weather patterns push cold air towards Germany, with no real improvement likely until after the weekend, DWD meteorologist Helmut Malewski said in a statement.
Continued rain showers and isolated thunder storms are expected on Friday in the north, with gale force winds possible along the coast. Maximum temperatures will top out at a cool 14 to 19 degrees Celsius, with heavy cloud cover and scattered showers in the rest of the country. As night falls, more scattered downpours and fog can be expected throughout the chilly night, Malewski said.
Northern regions will continue to suffer nasty conditions over the weekend, with more rain and lightning-laced storms and highs up to only 14 degrees.
Southern residents will have slightly more favourable weather on Saturday and Sunday, though. After morning fog dissipates the region will see cloudy to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures reaching up to 19 degrees Celsius. Only the Alps are likely to see rain, which could become stormy and sustained the DWD said.
