The gap between the blocs has grown to 5.3 percentage points with the Alliance claiming 49.7 percent and the Red-Greens on 44.4 percent. Last week’s poll indicated a 5 point difference.
“It is however so close between the blocs that the election winds can easily change the majority conditions,” said Skop’s analyst Birgitta Hultåker in a statement.
The Moderates declined slightly but remain the largest party with 30 percent ahead of the Social Democrats on 29.6 percent.
The smaller Alliance parties all experienced gains in the poll, explained by Skop to be a result of being able to compete with the bigger parties for exposure in the media.
The far-right Sweden Democrats gained 0.6 points and with 4.3 percent they would gain seats in parliament if their support would hold to election day on September 19th.
All changes in the poll are within statistical margin of error.
Skop interviewed 1,500 people between August 29th and September 3rd and posed the question: “Which party are you going to vote for in the parliamentary elections?”
