Green Party withdraws organic tomato ad

The Green Party has announced the withdrawal of one of its election posters, which upset an organization that certifies organic products by flagrantly displaying its KRAV brand.

KRAV had accused the Green Party of unauthorized use of its trademark for political propaganda purposes after the publication of the election poster depicting a tomato bearing one if its labels.

The party announced on Monday that while plans to continue to use the poster, the KRAV logo will be replaced.

“We will replace it with another eco symbol,” Magnus Johansson at the Green Party confirmed.

Johansson initially defended the use of the label on the poster incorporating the Green Party’s pleas to ”modernize Sweden”.

“We’ve used an ecological tomato, and to illustrate the fact that it’s ecological we’ve used the most recognizable brand, KRAV’s brand,” he told Sveriges Radio on Sunday.

But KRAV chief executive, Lars Nellmer, told Sveriges Radio on Sunday that he would be seek the advice of lawyer’s to discuss the legal ramifications of the Green Party’s use of the label on its campaign poster.

The organization has established a high level of brand recognition since its inception in 1985, with a KRAV label instantly recognizable to consumers as an indication of a product’s adherence to ecological standards.
