The teenager was found lifeless under a walkway in the vicinity of Södra station and police have opened a murder investigation.
“The circumstances at the scene indicate that we can not rule anything out,” Södermalm’s police confirmed on Sunday.
The forensic examination of the scene did not immediately establish the cause of the young woman’s death and her body will now be subjected to an autopsy.
The suspected murder is thought to have taken place sometime between 2.30-3.30am on Sunday. The security guard who found her body passed by the scene an hour before she was discovered and at that time she was not there.
Police have been informed that she was dropped off by a taxi at the junction of Swedenborgsgatan and Fatbursgatan at around 12.50am.
“Prior to this she had been at a private party on Södermalm,” Petra Sjölander at City police said.
“We are working across the board and talking with friends to see if they know where she had been and what she had done, to get a picture of what could have happened,” said Sjölander.
There are currently no suspects nor nothing concrete to confirm that it is a case of murder.
“It is possible to fall from the walkway and the drop is three-four metres,” Petra Sjölander surmised.
Police are seeking to make contact with any further witnesses who might have seen or heard anything potentially related to the woman’s death.
