“Normally, she should have been home around 5pm,” Erik Jeppsson of the Skåne police told TT news agency.
Around 20 police officers are involved in the search and the neighbouring municipalities of Kronoberg and Blekinge have contributed several canine units.
“Unfortunately we can’t use a helicopter because it had engine trouble,” Jeppson said.
The woman is in good health, but she has memory problems, according to police, who believe she could have gotten lost.
“She is out there in a large wooded area and there is a risk that she has injured herself,” Jepsson said.
The weather in the area is dry and the temperature is around 0 degrees Celsius. It is unknown whether or not the woman is appropriately dressed for the cool weather.
