The girl, who was ordered to pay 10,000 kronor ($1,400) in compensation to Åkesson as well as a court fine, said that the attack was not personal.
“A couple of guys explained that there were Nazis in town and they put me up to throwing the eggs. It was not directed at Jimmie Åkesson,” she told local newspaper Östgöta Correspondenten.
“I regret doing it. It was a really impulsive act.”
The attack took place during the tumult caused by police attempts to break up a rowdy counter demonstration against the Sweden Democrats rally.
“I suddenly felt something hit my neck and then I received another blow and my glasses flew off,” said Åkessson, adding that the incident had left him shaken and more inclined to look over his shoulder.
