The pilot noticed that his instruments were giving him contradictory speed readings and opted to abandon the take-off.
The plane coasted off the runway and into a patch of snowbound grass and all 165 passengers and six crew members left the aircraft unscathed.
An airport spokesman said that although conditions were slightly below freezing and there had been slight snowfall, the runway had been cleared and was not frozen.
German civil aviation experts will inspect the aircraft to try to find out what had given the divergent readings, the spokesman added. Air traffic was suspended at the airport following the incident to the plane, which had been due to fly to the Canary Islands.
