“The girl has been missing for eight hours and no one has seen her yet,” said Cindy Schönström-Larsson, Malmö Police press officer. According to the police, the girl’s relatives alerted police just after 12:30 in the morning. The girl had then already been missing for approximately half an hour.
In the early hours of New Year’s morning, 20 to 20 police officers using police dogs, and officers on horseback, were mobilised in a search for the girl. The search area is concentrated around Gustav Adolf Square, where the girl was last seen, but is fanning out to a larger area, according to Schönström-Larsson.
Meanwhile, police leadership was engaged today in a meeting to determine contingency plans for the ongoing search. Police have also interviewed the girl’s relations. Police do not want to speculate about what could have happened to the girl.
