The event featuring three of the most influential leaders at the time will take place on October 31 under the motto: “The Fall of the Wall and Reunification – the Victory of Freedom.”

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation, which is affiliated with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats, announced the Cold War era reunion on Wednesday.

Merkel and German President Horst Köhler will also attend.

The 85-year-old Bush, Gorbachev (78) and Kohl (79), all played key roles as the peaceful revolution unfolded in East Germany in the autumn of 1989. Their cooperation would pave the way for German reunification in 1990.

Missing from the reunion will be former French President François Mitterrand, who died in 1996, and the UK’s former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (84).
