Gothenburg goalie admits moving posts

A goalkeeper for Swedish football club IFK Göteborg is under investigation after being caught on film moving his goalposts before a league game. "I've done it from time to time," he says.

In a recent match against Örebro, ‘keeper Kim Christensen was spotted kicking the moveable posts, an action that resulted in them moving several centimetres inwards.

The referee was alerted after 30 minutes of the match by Örebro players that the posts had moved.

“The situation has been reported to our disciplinary board,” Swedish football federation spokesman Jonas Nystedt told AFP, adding that there would be a ruling on October 1.

“A group of experts is now watching the images of what the referees can’tsee during the game. This group will now analyse what’s happening on television and what Christensen is doing and then they make a report to the disciplinary board and they take a decision.”

Christensen, 30, from Denmark, admitted that it had not been the first time he had moved the goalposts in such a way. “I saw a friendly goalkeeper doing it some years back and since then I’ve done it from time to time,” he told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Nystedt said he had been shocked by the admission that post moving was not a rare occurrence.

“He says that it’s common that goalkeepers do this. That makes it almost worse,” the spokesman said, warning of a sanction.

“Everything is possible. It’s a very specific case, so there is no tradition and no past cases.”

VIDEO: Spain’s La Liga reviews video of boy racially abusing Vinicius

Spain's La Liga on Monday said it was reviewing a video of a child making racist insults towards Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior during the 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend.

“We’re in the process of studying and analysing the facts from a legal standpoint to see what we can and should do,” La Liga sources said.

In a video published by a journalist for ESPN Brasil, and picked up by Spanish media, a boy sitting in a woman’s lap can be heard calling Vinicius a “monkey”.

The Brazilian scored twice for Madrid as his team recovered from two goals down at Mestalla on Saturday.

Vinicius raised his fist in a “Black Power” salute after the first of his two goals at a ground where he was racially abused last season. Valencia subsequently banned three people from the stadium for life.

The 23-year-old has become a symbol of the fight against discrimination in Spanish football after suffering racist abuse on many occasions, and he was jeered repeatedly by home supporters on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham was sent off after the final whistle against Valencia for protesting after the referee blew the final whistle right before the England midfielder headed home what he thought was the winning goal.
