More bad news for anyone expecting Germany’s summer to return anytime soon: “Wolfgang,” the latest in a series of fronts bringing disappointing weather, could ruin this weekend.
Hail, heavy rainfall, gale-force winds and lightning storms arrive on Wednesday and Thursday in the western and northern states. Those in the southeast will be fortunate enough to enjoy summery temperatures between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius (82 and 91 degrees Fahrenheit), but the rest of the country stay a cooler 24 to 29 degrees Celsius (75 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit).
Thunderstorms will continue overnight, sparing only southeast Bavaria.
Thursday will also be stormy with severe weather expected in isolated pockets. Southeast Germany will have intermittant sunshine. Temperatures will fall to around 23 degrees Celsius (74 degrees Fahrenheit) in the north and a sticky 32 degrees Celsius (89 degrees Fahrenheit) in the southeast.
The turbulent weather will quiet a bit on Friday with just a few thunderstorms and gale winds predicted in the northwest. However, temperatures will begin dropping, averaging just 21 degrees Celsius (69 degrees Fahrenheit) in the north and 29 degrees Celsius (84 degrees Fahrenheit) in the south.
