Warm temperatures returned to Germany this week after dismal and chilly rain, sending scantily clad Teutons scampering into parks and pools – but thick clouds full of thunderstorms and hail are expected to spoil their fun in the western part of the country by Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile clouds bringing showers, thunderstorms and violent winds will gather over many other parts of the nation. Temperatures will be between 22 and 33 degrees Celsius (71 and 91 degrees Fahrenheit).
Saturday will be stormy in eastern Germany, while the rest of the country can expect possible showers. Temperatures will drop to a high of 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit).
Extreme weather with freezing temperatures is expected in Bavaria’s Alps, where extreme sports enthusiasts are set to take part in a race to the top of the country’s highest peak, the Zugspitze. Despite the deaths of two men due to winter weather conditions during last year’s race, race organisers plan to go on with the event.
