Sweden issues swine flu travel warning

The Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control (Smittskyddsinstitutet) has called on Swedes to refrain from non-essential travel to Mexico in a bid to curtail the risk of a swine flu outbreak in the country.

“The Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control has decided to issue a travel warning regarding Mexico to prevent travellers from Sweden from contracting the new influenza,” it said in a statement.

The Swedish foreign ministry said it would not issue a separate travel advisory.

The institute said meanwhile it had tested 24 people for the virus, all of whom were negative.
