The Master of Flémalle and Rogier van der Weyden
Revered as two pioneers of early Netherlandish painting, the Master of Flémalle and Rogier van der Weyden utilised the technologies of the fifteenth century to create realistic images of people and places. A new exhibition at Berlin’s Kulturforum Potsdamer Platz includes paintings of hovering Renaissance angels and virginal Dutch maidens among its trove of masterful gems.

Ito Jakuchu – Jade Flowers in Mysterious Gardens Japanese woodcuts
White birds, plants, and insects appear against a black background in the stunning woodcuts of Ito Jakuchu. The eccentric Japanese artist created a book titled Jade Flowers in Mysterious Gardens in 1768. Fifty-five prints from that volume comprise this enchanting new exhibition at Hamburg’s Museum for Art and Trade.
