Berlinische Galerie Double Opening
In the 1940s Erwin Blumenfeld was one of the world’s most highly acclaimed fashion photographers. But before he got serious with a camera, the Jewish, Berlin-born artist created fascinating montages that pitted comedy against pop culture. See 80 of his works, when the exhibition “Erwin Blumenfeld: Dada Montages” opens Thursday, along with “As Time Goes By,” a show based on the passage of time.

The sun dips below the horizon and the sky becomes bright with the refraction of rays off the atmosphere. The moment is known as twilight, and an experimental sound series at the A Trans Pavilion gallery in Berlin’s Hackesche Höfe begins in precise conjunction with this strange, romantic time, often referred to as the “blue hour.” Hanayo and Rashad Becker perform in the small glass cube Saturday, at 5:44 pm.
