Hamburg mayor Ole von Beust will be on hand for the train’s first official trip to the airport. Passengers can now travel from the Ohlsdorf station to the new Hamburg Airport (Flughafen) station in about 25 minutes.
Planning for the commuter-friendly project took some three decades, meanwhile new tracks, tunnels and stations cost €280 million.
