Some 24 apartments in Berlin, as well and four others in the outlying states of Brandenburg and Saxony were searched early on Wednesday morning, a spokesperson told news agency DDP. Most of the Berlin raids occurred in the eastern districts of Lichtenberg and Friedrichshain.
The raids were the result of a five-month investigation of some 30 suspects based in Berlin, who authorities believe have been smuggling Vietnamese people through France and England. Police made 15 arrests.
