Malmö nightclub tips: Friday, Nov 14

Babel/Concert

Address: Babel, Spångatan 38

8pm – midnight

160 kronor (prebook at ticnet.se)

Sick of getting stuck behind basketball players, guys with massive afros or girls with silly hats when you go to see your favourite band or biggest idol? Babel’s mezzanine enables you to avoid climbing up on somebody’s shoulders to see what’s happening on stage. A free view, tasty drinks and good sound: what more can you ask for when you go to a concert? Good music, presumably. Relax: Babel will see to that.

Tonight

JazzAttack’s pre-release party.

Seven man band JazzAttack release their third almum, Oavsett Vad, next year. This is a chance for the curious to hear all tracks from the album. NB: If you pay 50 kronor extra you can hang around for club Backlash afterwards.

Backlash

Address: Babel, Spånggatan 38

11pm – 3am

100 kronor

Age: 20 and over

Are you looking for a night out with a glass of red wine and some nondescript lounge music? Then Backlash is not for you. Everybody else can celebrate the fact that Staffan (Drama!) has started a club where dance takes centre stage. The music is untz in its purest form: messy electro, noisy techno, and powerful ghetto. Reclaim the dance floor!

Tonight

Mona Masri will look after things on the small dance floor, playing glammy hip hop and r’n’b with Mats Nileskär. Live: Dusty Kid.

Underlandet

Address: Brogatan, Brogatan 12

11pm – 3am

Free entry

Where Alice in Wonderland hunts a rabbit, club manager Emil Broomé in Wonderland hunts disco. When you’ve finished your botanic experimentation among the fine selection of beers upstairs, it’s time to go down to the cellar, sorry – Wonderland – and hypno-dance to obscure disco. Then it’s time for an after-party with the author with the bushy hair.

The best way to use a cellar is to put a disco club in it. This is something that Dansmusen and Ida Session have understood as they prepare to welcome Möllan bohemians and disco gurus to four nights of disco this season. And the best thing is: it’s free.
