Berlin film tackles Brad and Angelina rumour mill

A Berlin film about hype over last year's rumours that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie might buy a flat in Berlin will premiere on Thursday.

The duration of “Waiting for Angelina,” directed by Hans-Christoph Blumenberg, is set on a rooftop in the city-centre that overlooks a building which was said to be where Pitt and Jolie would live.

The main characters are a paparazzo waiting to get the shots of a life-time, and a fan of Angelina Jolie, who wants photos of her to prove his worth to his ex-girlfriend.

The film shows the developing relationship between the two men as they talk about why they are on the terrace waiting for the actress – when neither of them have a right to be there because it belongs to a dentist who is on holiday.

German actor Florian Lukas, who plays the paparazzo and, said he was glad not to be of interest to paparazzi himself.

“Thankfully I am not Brad Pitt. No one is interested in what I do. I also try not to provoke this kind of thing and do not put myself out there in public. I don’t want anyone to follow me – that would just make me paranoid.”

When asked whether he knew if Pitt or Jolie had heard of the film he said, “I don’t know, but I can’t imagine they have.”

And he said he doubted that they would show up at the premiere, even though they are in Berlin while Pitt stars in the Quentin Tarantino production, “Inglorious Basterds.”

“It’s unlikely,” said Lukas. “And the film plays with the concept of their elusiveness.”
