Festival of Lights

Berlin is beautiful any time of year, but for the next week and a half, when the city is swathed in pink, blue, yellow, and green lights, it will surely be a site to behold. From 7pm to 1am every evening until October 27, 48 of the city’s landmark sites, including the Reichstag, TV Tower, and Brandenburg gate will be aglow. Emiliana Torrini

The Icelandic chanteuse brings her sweet, ethereal songs to Berlin’s Kasselhaus Tuesday. She’s been compared to Bjork, albeit an extremely gentle version, but Torrini certainly has her own sound.

International Sound Art Festival

German composer and sound artist Thomas Gerwin kicks off this month-long festival of performances by improvisational orchestras, chamber works, sound installations, symposiums, and live electronics beginning on Friday night.

Gerhard Richter

There is no end to the depth of a Gerhard Richter painting, and an exhibition of around forty of them opens Saturday at Cologne’s Museum Ludwig. With a focus on abstract works produced since the mid-1970s, the show includes the dozen paintings that make up the 2005 series “Wald,” never before presented in Europe.

The Little Prince
