No cars will be produced at a factory in Bochum this week, according to sources within the company. The decision affects some 5,000 Opel employees, the paper said. No layoffs have yet been announced.
Meanwhile the company’s Eisenach factory will shut down for three weeks on next Monday, affecting 1,800 workers, though no details on the closure are officially available.
The company plans to reduce production by 40,000 cars throughout Europe, closing other factories in England and Spain, the paper reported.
