“I put a nice, fatty sausage from Tuscany in the oven in the afternoon. There was so much smoke that it set off the fire alarm,” said Thomas Söderman, whose job it is to keep an eye on the weather from Arlanda’s flight control tower, to the Upsala Nya Tidning newspaper.
Normally, a fire alarm results in an evacuation of the tower and a stoppage of all flights.
But several technicians were able to quickly shut down the alarm following Söderman’s indoor barbeque.
Arlanda’s fire chief later made a more thorough inspection.
“I offered him a sausage and he thought it was good,” said Söderman, who added that he has no plans to cook any more sausages until the fire alarm has been moved.
