Stockholm weekend going out guide: September 12 – 13

The Local helps fulfil all your Stockholm nightlife needs this weekend in cooperation with the ever-reliable entertainment gurus at Djungeltrumman.

FRIDAY

Blondie

Address: Knast, Upplandsgatan 7

9pm – 1am

Free entry

Age: 18 and over

Down among the graffiti-covered stone walls, the candlelit darkness, thick dry ice, red leather sofas and curious images of skeletons and popes, Stockholm legend Tommie X opens the doors every Friday night to his wonderfully decadent club, Blondie.

The club is a coming together of the gays and the fag hags, the media old timers and the nineteen year old barflies, bewigged anorexic monsters and confused but happy indie poppers and fashionistas.

There is room for everybody here, whether you want to dance ’til you sweat to life-affirming eurodisco or sit and make out in the black sofas.

Tonight

A very welcome guest and a Brazilian party as Blondie receives a visit from none other than Pedro D’eyrot from Bonde do Role.

Maria Tedemalm and residents Tommie X and Sugarmama will also be playing.

It’s also just possible that Jocke will offer some of his famous Brazilian stew, as well as the obligatory margaritas and tequila for the people.

DC Chigurh

Address: Sugar Bar, Kammakargatan 9

7pm – 1pm

60 kronor

Age: 18 and over

Website

The ever active and ambitious Klubb Democrazy has launched a new club with the somewhat odd title DC Chigurh, housed at Sugar Bar — the little club mecca in the city centre.

Each club night will be graced by two live bands, appearing on stage at 10pm and 11pm, as well as some carefully selected DJs playing music conducive to the dancefloor and the ears. Guests arriving early (7pm – 9pm) will be treated to a vegetarian buffet of the Persian variety.

Tonight

Live music from the great hip-hop talent Ismen. The soulful Gaél Kinsungila will be warming things up earlier in the evening. The DJ booth will be manned by Kalle J & Chrille Chorus.

No Fun

Address: Helenes Krog, Mariatorget 1 A

10pm – 3am

60 kronor

Age: 20 and over

Old club stalwarts Baba Sonic and Rocks have joined forces for a Friday club down at the obvious common venue: Helenes Krog. No Fun brings together Peter Rückert (Baba Sonic, Don etc.) and Starbar-Steffe (Rocks) for an evening of everything from indie and singalong pop to 60s, rock, punk, garage, grunge, stoner rock, and so much more besides. Guaranteed to be messy, with beer-spraying aplenty and a hands-in-the-air-on-the-dancefloor alert every Friday night!

SATURDAY

Address: Marie Laveau, Hornsgatan 66

10pm – 3am

100 kronor

Age: 23 and over

Website

Inseparable Anglophiles Robert Plaszczyk and Magnus Carlson (Weeping Willows) run the incredibly popular Bangers’n’Mash club together with former Ride guitarist and current Oasis bassist Andy Bell

Every second Saturday they get the dancefloor moving to the baggiest Madchester, singalong Britpop and ravetastic acid house for all the Stockholm geezers in need of more excitement in their lives.

They have also brought over a steady flow of celebrities from England, including previous guests Mani, Peter Hook, Carl Barat, Dot Allison and Ian McCulloch.

Tonight

A welcome visit from DJ Taro (Hemmalaget) and A Lowe Thing (Eros Video). Guests arriving early can get their fill of tasty buns.
