BOMB

Eight years for mail bomb murder attempt

A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for trying to kill his ex-girlfriend with a letter bomb in a Stockholm suburb last spring.

In April, the 37-year-old ex-girlfriend, who resides on the island of Lindingö outside of Stockholm, received a notice to go fetch a parcel at the post office.

She took home a pipe-shaped package enclosed in red gift wrap and as she was unwrapping the “gift” she discovered thin wire covered in tape.

Fearing the worst, she hurled the package from her lap just moments before it exploded.

The woman’s apartment caught fire as a result of the blast, although she was able to escape with burns on her arms and legs.

Her 48-year-old ex-boyfriend has now received an eight year prison sentence for attempted murder, writes the Metro newspaper.
