More torrential rain on the way

SMHI has warned that the heavy rain is set to continue in parts of western Sweden, Örebro and the Stockholm region on Thursday night and into Friday morning.

“The rain will arrive already on Thursday evening, but the main downpour will come during the night. We are forecasting 30-50 millimetres,” said Lisa Frost at SMHI to news agency TT.

The heavy rain is expected to continue throughout Friday.

The new spate of rainy weather is not expected to be accompanied by the strong winds that whipped in over the country earlier in the week.

Two people are feared to have drowned out to sea during the storms earlier in the week. Thousands suffered power cuts and ferry and train traffic was affected.
