During the first six months of 2008, the number of used cars sold to private individuals dropped by 5.9 percent compared with the same period last year.
So far this year, a total of 409,234 used cars have been sold throughout the country.
The figures, which were compiled by automotive testing and information company Bilcert, also so that used car sales in July dropped 12.5 percent, which the largest decreases taking place in Gothenburg, Jönköping, and Uppsala.
The fall is most acute among dealers tied to Sweden’s national automotive association, the Motorbranschens Riksförbund (MRF).
In July, sales recorded by their members fell by 23.5 percent compared with figures from the year before.
