Police believe the killings occurred in connection with a robbery.
On Saturday, police found the badly burned bodies of the family in their two story house, located in Cebu province.
The Swedish man, his wife, and children, were located in different parts of the house.
According to the newspaper, police found a kerosene gas container and 13 shells casings at the scene of the crime.
Police also came across an open cash box with gold coins inside, but aren’t yet sure if anything is missing.
There are currently no suspects.
The press office at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had not been informed of the incident as of late Sunday night.
“We have received information through the media, but Philippine authorities haven’t contacted us with respect to this,” said foreign ministry spokesperson Kent Öberg to the TT news agency.
The Swedish man was found in a garage located about 20 metres from the house.
His wife was found on the first floor of the house, while the bodies of the couple’s children were found on the second floor.
According to the Sun Star, the family’s house was a long way from their nearest neighbours.
The 61-year-old is reportedly a retired member of the Swedish military.
