German man banned from naked jogging

A German court has ruled that a man in the Bavarian town of Gunzenhausen must wear clothes when he goes jogging from now on, Munich daily Abendzeitung reported Friday.

German man banned from naked jogging

The 51-year-old Siegfried G. had apparently been disturbing fellow residents with his habit of jogging in the buff, and was warned by authorities in January to cover up in public.

But the free-wheeling “Sigi,” as the Abendzeitung called him, just couldn’t bring himself to abandon his birthday suit runs and residents reported seeing him “bare down there,” while casually holding a handkerchief in front of his genitals.

The paper reports that Sigi tried several excuses to justify his need to jog in the nude. First he told the court he was working on an art project. When this failed, he said he had a medical condition which caused him to sweat so much he couldn’t bear wearing clothing while he exercised.

The Ansbach administrative court didn’t accept his excuses, and ruled the man would be fined €400 the next time he chooses to free himself from the bounds of social decorum.
