Cologne tabloid Express on Wednesday reported English side Tottenham were ready to pay €20 million for “Poldi,” who has scored three goals for his country at the European football championships in Switzerland and Austria.

“I was informed of the interest of both of these clubs and I find it very interesting,” Poldolski told the paper.

Podolski, the best young player of the 2006 World Cup, joined Bayern Munich for €10 million two years ago, however he has not been able to get a regular first team place. Jürgen Klinsmann, who starts as coach of Bayern in July, launched Podolski’s international career while the player was still at second division Cologne.

But Podolski is doubtful for Thursday’s quarterfinal clash against Portugal after damaging his calf muscle, it was revealed on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old picked up the calf injury in Monday night’s 1-0 win over Austria, which put the Germans in the last eight as runners-up to Group B winners Croatia.

“Lukas has a problem with his calf and will not be involved in training today and we are hoping it will be right for the Portugal match,” said Löw. “We will, of course, be doing everything we can to get him back on the pitch, but there is a large question mark on his participation.”

Polish-born Podolski scored both goals in Germany’s opening group stage 2-0 win over Poland and then grabbed the consolation in his team’s 2-1 shock defeat by Croatia last week.

The Bayern Munich striker has played out of position so far in an attacking midfielder role, but Löw is set to name him alongside Miroslav Klose against Portugal as Mario Gomez has so far failed to impress at Euro 2008.

Löw admitted VfB Stuttgart striker Gomez – who was named Germany’s player of the year in 2007 – has not been up to scratch so far in the tournament. “He has not been playing to the same level as we saw him achieve last season,” said Löw. “But I am sure we will see his qualities later in the tournament.”
