Swedish billionaire heir on the run in UK

Swedish Tetra Pak heir Hans Kristian Rausing, 44, is currently on the run from the British Metropolitan police following a car accident on Monday allegedly involving drink or drugs, according to UK media reports.

The heir to the Tetra Pak ‘milk carton’ billions is wanted for questioning after allegedly deserting the scene of a car crash he was involved in on Monday.

Hans Kristian Rausing and his American wife Eva already made the headlines earlier this year when 44-year-old Eva Rausing was arrested attempting to smuggle class-A drugs into the American Embassy in London.

Following that arrest in April, the couple’s million dollar Chelsea home was raided and a variety of drugs including crack, cocaine were allegedly discovered. Their total value amounted to 30,000 kronor ($4,972).

The couple, who have four children, were later released on bail, with a trial pending in July.

Rausing and his wife have always been open about their former drug addictions and make no secret of the fact that they first met at a rehab centre in the United States. They have tried to help other addicts overcome addiction and made donations to several addiction centres in the UK.

The son of Britain’s third richest man has also openly supported the UK Conservative Party with donations.

Rausing’s 82-year-old father Hans is a Swedish industrialist estimated to be the 77th richest man in the world, The Times reports.
