Man killed in Värmland shooting

A man was shot and killed and another wounded by gunfire following a fight in central Grums in Värmland in west central Sweden late on Sunday night.

The two men were taken by ambulance to the central hospital in Karlstad, where doctors pronounced that one of the men had died.

The other man remained in intensive care over night for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The man had been shot in the middle of the road after 10pm Sunday night, most likely by one or more perpetrators.

“Nothing indicates that they shot each other,” said Tord Carlsson of the Karlstad police.

The man who died was found lifeless on a sidewalk by police and ambulance personnel.

The other man had made his way into a nearby pizzeria. Police and doctors were able to speak with the man before he was taken to the hospital.

“We’ve blocked off the area for a technical examination and plan to interview more witnesses. Three people have been taken to the police station for questioning,” said Carlsson shortly after midnight.

As of 2:30am, the police still had no suspects for the shooting.
